Website Design
Final Website Designs:
Critical Reflection:
These are the three website pages I created for my project, I decided on a home page, a help page and an information page on what Quetzal the charity do. I decided to create a website for my docu-series as I saw that 'Our Planet' also created one for their Netflix docu-series. This inspired me to create a website for my docu-series which helps to increase advertisement as well as gives the audience more information on what the docu-series is about and what Quetzal the charity does.
For the homepage, the contrast in colours of the black and white image and text, to the red Netflix logo stand out the most to me. I wanted this contrast as it gives some originality to the website and using a black and white image fitted well with the theme of my project since the topic is quite dark. Similarly, with the 'What we do' page, the contrast of the background image is very low to give the page a darker theme overall. The 'How to get help' page is slightly brighter, in the image the person is smiling and holding hands with the other woman. This is supposed to look like a counselling session, which is why that page is slightly brighter in colours and overall theme, to give a happier and more positive atmosphere.
Website Design Process:
This is a very basic mock-up design of the three website pages. I always planned on making the homepage quite minimalistic so that the important features stood out more, such as the information on the docu-series and the background image. However, you can see from this mock-up that the layout of the home page was initially more central, compared to the final design which is more left aligned.
The 'Get help' page is still very similar to how it was initially planned out, with it being a split screen and one half being an image of two people in a counselling session and the other half being contact information. I like the final design of my help page, however if I were to improve this page it would be the font which I think makes the website look less formal.
This page I completely changed in my final design, mainly because I planned on having five images of the five survivors who would be interviewed in each episode. However due to Covid and being unable to get five similar, portrait images of five different women. I decided to change this page into a 'What we do' page, which I think is a lot more fitting and provides the audience with a lot more information on what Quetzal do, rather than a page on meeting the survivors which is initially what the whole docu-series does anyway.
