Netflix Banners
Final Netflix Banner Designs:
Critical Reflection:
These are the three final designs for my Netflix banners, I created two portrait banners and one landscape banner. From looking at the previous Netflix banners, I noticed that they are quite simplistic, usually only consisting of a background image, the logo/title and the Netflix logo in the corner too. However, the background images were usually quite dramatic and spoke for themselves, generally giving some insight into the genre of the text too. I used this research when creating my Netflix banners too, such as with the background images. I knew that the theme for my docu-series was very dark and mature, this was something I knew needed to be highlighted in the banners so that the audience had an understanding of the topic before they watched it. This is why I made the background images of my banners quite dark and intense, as they help to give an understanding of the theme of the docu-series before even reading about it.
You will notice that the images used in the banners have been re-used from the posters too, this is because when doing research into Netflix shows advertising, they tend to re-use certain images which catch the attention of the audience. When re-using images, the audience begin to gain familiarity, which results in them wanting to watch the show more due to thinking they have seen it being advertised more.
The Banners on the Netflix Homepage:
Here I added the Netflix banners I created onto the actual Netflix homepage with the rest of the Netflix banners. Overall, I think the banners fit well with the rest of the homepage and don't stand out too much. They could just be another show to watch rather than looking unrealistic. One improvement that could be made is to brighten up the background images more, however due to the nature of my docu-series, I didn't want the banners looking too bright as it could change the audiences initial thoughts on the genre of the docu-series.
